Medical marijuana is the new bumper crop in Colorado agriculture, but only a certain amount can be trafficked legally. What’s happening with the surplus? We’ll talk about what an I-News investigation reveals, and learn how the state and growers are grappling with it.

Special guests include:

  • Lauren Seaton, I-News reporter
  • Matt Cook, Senior Director of Enforcement at Colorado Department of Revenue (overseeing all MM license applications)
  • Ryan Hartman, Boulder Wellness Center, co-owner
  • Cami Hall, grower (and employee of Trichome Health Consultants in Colorado Springs)

Read the I-News story on Colorado’s medical marijuana surplus.

What a great question raised in this article, but I think we all know that it somehow makes it’s way out of state. Since it’s grown all up and down the west coast (and everywhere else), what makes the varieties any less sought-after than grapes? I’m sure it’s even shipped to California so the stores there can boast Mile High Herb of Colorado Chronic. Oregon has the best patient’s rights laws and they are entitled to an enormous amount by all other state standards. Colorado weed goes to Chicago, it goes to Kansas and Texas, you name it.

I’ve been documenting Northern California outdoor marijuana growers since 2005 and have seen first hand, hundreds of pounds produced by relatively small-time farmers. You can watch our doc and tell us what you think about this super-relevant topic in American politics/medicine. It’s available on HULU.com for FREE!
